Our studies give the full picture of what is going on on YouTube. YouTube Comments: Keep Them Regulated! When was the last time you took a long, hard look at the comments on YouTube? They’re a real treat to read, aren’t they? Not exactly – rarely are these comments good-natured or written to encourage or applaud the person who posted the video. More so, many YouTube comments are quite hateful in nature, and they embarrass and chastise the poster – and these comments often go entirely too far. When it comes down to it, YouTube has been overrun by these harsh, often-racist and very ignorant, harmful and offensive comments. Something needs to be done, because these YouTube comments, yes, should be regulated and monitored; better yet, YouTube should have a function that regulates comments according to the individual’s preferences. SHOULD FUNNY CAT VIDEOS BE ALLOWED ON YOUTUBE? One way that YouTube could regulate comments and cater preferences for a user is by weeding out the use of explicit language in comments. Perhaps when signing in to YouTube for the first time, a user would be better served by picking or entering the words they do not wish to see, the type of language that offends them and their family; maybe a survey of some sort. This way, any comments bearing this kind of offensive language will not be seen by this user when one reads comments to videos they view. This service would actually further advance YouTube, as the comment preferences will retain (rather than repel) viewers and attract additional users and viewers. YouTube Should Eliminate Attacking Comments YouTube could also further regulate its Website’s content by eliminating comments that are negative or attacking in nature. These are the kind of senseless, mean-spirited, racist comments you see posted on Social Media all too much: words filled with hatred, envy or anger. Yes, people have their right to speak freely, but an everyday user should have the option to not see such language. Unless they want to engage in the discussion, as in offering their report or approval of such filth, they should have the ability, as a YouTube user, to filter out these kinds of comments that negative and argumentative in nature. This would require YouTube being regulated to a great extent, but it’s something necessary and worthwhile. YouTube could regulate its comments that possess a sexual nature, whether it is sexism, sexual harassment of another user or profanity in terms of sexual language. These types of comments should be regulated because a user has the right to let their young children view a YouTube video without fearing they will come across bad sexual language – language that children clearly are not mature enough to hear. Once again, everyone’s YouTube page should be different, with different preferences that range from adult control to language control. The user should be able to choose what they want to see and read on their personal YouTube page. If the Website makes money from advertisements sold by page views (made by the user), then the user should have a say in how they ultimately experience the product – because they are essentially the customers. Users Should Have the Choice of What to See To conclude this argument, that YouTube should regulate its millions of user comments, it’s important to consider the facts: Fact 1. A good portion of the people posting nasty, mean, anger-filled comments are teens and lazy, angry and jobless adults. This makes for a multitude of self-centered nonsense from ignorant people. Fact 2. People can post comments anonymously on YouTube, therefore, without consequence. A person can pretty much say anything they want on this Social Media platform and not have to fear to get any real punishment for their comments – other than feedback from other users. Fact 3. Also, every single living person has a right to avoid filthy, nonsensical and violent language – especially on such a highly esteemed website such as YouTube. Looking back over these facts, you will understand why YouTube must regulate its comments. It’s time for the user to have a little control over the kind of content they see on their Social Media pages – and that certainly includes YouTube. Users should have the choice of filtering their account’s preferences so that they will never have to see comments from others that do not pertain to or favor them, comments that are harsh and cruel in nature and utterly repugnant. There should be choices – YouTube is, after all, an American-based company with billions of International users. People in America have choices. You would think the Billion-Dollar website would be more open to choices.

Such thinking ignores many even-tempered redheads and generous Scottish people. Stereotyping emphasizes many differences between groups while ignoring their similarities to other people. It ignores that many blond and brown-haired people also lose their tempers. Stereotyping overlooks the fact that many American, Brazilians and French people are stingy. Stereotyping redheads or Scottish people usually does little harm. It typically leads to friendly kidding and good-natured jokes. Simple-minded stereotyping can be dangerous. The danger lies in exaggeration of differences in color, nationality, religion and language. We exaggerate the differences, ignoring what we share as human beings and become prejudiced. Prejudice is nourished by fear as it grows out of exaggeration. It is a profoundly negative emotion bearing the fruit of hatred. Racism is a form of extreme prejudice that leads to physical and psychological violence. Racists can be any color: white, black, brown, red or yellow. A white racist thinks all blacks are alike, while a black racist thinks all Hispanics are alike. In addition, a Hispanic racist may think all Native Americans are alike. The ethnic boundaries of racism pigeon hole another group, while having no boundaries of its own. It only requires a tangible object that can be pointed at, discriminated against, spat upon and attacked. The differences are not important because the attack comes from fear. Racism is expressed in labels including: chink, nigger, honky, wop, kike and Gook. Such is the power of stereotypical, simple-minded thinking. My brother was a small child when my family moved from Oklahoma to California, at the end of The Depression. Farmers had advertised in newspapers and flyers that there was plenty of work and good pay, luring families (like mine) from the overworked dust bowl farms. Many native Californians were angry that the Okies were arriving in such large numbers. As my brother entered his new school, he experienced stereotyping, by teachers and classmates. They teased him because he had an accent and wore Okie overalls. He worked hard at trying to fit in, even changing his accent. Though my brother made good grades and was a great athlete, the name calling continued and he remained the subject of many Okie jokes. As he entered high school, the stereotyping became prejudice. The hatred felt for him and others from Oklahoma became evident in the game, Get the Okie, where captured victims were thrown into garbage cans (where they belonged). My brother, who is over 65 years old, suffers from the prejudice he experienced as a young man, remembering the names of those who tormented him. He never understood the hatred directed at him, just because he came from another state.

Characters Guilty of Pride and Prejudice Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen marvelously portrays the life of a middle-class country family in England during the early nineteenth century. The family, the Bennets, is presently engaged in finding suitable (rich) husbands for their five daughters. The main character, Elizabeth Bennet, is an intelligent, witty, and opinionated young woman. She has already rebuffed one would-be suitor because she felt he was unfit, and in this scene, she turns down another, Fitzwilliam Darcy, because she feels that he is arrogant and cruel. This scene portrays a lively exchange between the two, with Elizabeth accusing him of prejudice and Darcy charging her with being full of pride. The scene opens with Darcy entering the room where Elizabeth was reading. After inquiring about her health, he pauses for a few moments and then suddenly declares, "You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you" (Austen, 142) He then proceeds to tell her all the things that are wrong with her family and her own "inferiority" (142). Despite all this, he still loves her. Darcy seems sure she will accept, but Elizabeth's dislike of his pride and arrogance make it impossible for her to accede. They then proceed to enter into a heated argument and each volley cutting insults upon the other. Austen's wording during this exchange adds to the liveliness of this quarrel. Elizabeth first disparages his proposal by saying, "Why with so evident a design of offending and insulting me, you chose to tell me that you liked me against your will, against your reason, and even against your character" (143) Darcy's proposal was a far cry from romantic and it convinced Elizabeth that D arcy wants a wife inferior to him, something she would never stand for. She goes on to accuse him of being prejudiced against another by laying charge after charge upon him and concluding with, "You have done all this! and yet you can treat the mention of his misfortunes with contempt and ridicule" (144). He retorts, "These offenses might have been overlooked, had not your pride been hurt by my honest confessions of the scruples that had long prevented my forming any serious design" (144). She counters by saying, "You are mistaken, Mr. Darcy, if you suppose that the mode of your declaration affected me" (145). She goes on to say, "You could not have made me the offer of your hand in any possible way that would have tempted me to accept it" (145).

Air Traffic Controller Essay Air Traffic Controller is an occupation were you work with pilots and guide them safely from the time they push back to when they park at the gate. Being an Air Traffic Controller is a difficult job, they have a big responsibility which is to keep everyone safe in the skies. They are responsible for the safety, separation and sequencing of aircraft. I was told that in the tower that this is a job where you have to be alert to all of the surroundings, weather and pilots doing what they are supposed to be doing. This job is not like some people say it is.It’s not easy; this job takes a lot of training and a lot of patience with the pilots. In ATC you have three positions: the first is â€Å"Clearance Delivery† is when the pilot calls the tower to request his clearance to their destination. The pilot calls clearance and he’d say the type of aircraft they are flying, were his parked at and their destination. For example: â€Å"Vieques 89 2 requesting clearance to Boriquen† then the controller tells the pilot: â€Å"Vieques 892 you are cleared to Boriquen via the assigned route and gives them an assigned transponder code. The Boriquen airport is the name for Aguadilla airport or in the aviation language BQN is the three letter identifier. In Luis Munoz Marin international airport the larger companies like Delta, JetBlue, United and others have a service they pay for. It’s a third party company that gives them the clearance information in a short computer message that is sent to the aircraft when the pilot requests a clearance without ever having to talk to the clearance controller. After this happens the pilots contact ground control. Ground control is one of the most difficult positions in this type of work.Ground control is the controller the pilot calls to ask for their clearance for pushback and taxi. The pilot does this â€Å"Delta 422 requesting clearance to pushback and the gate number they are parked at†, and then the controller tells the pilot â€Å"Delta 422 cleared to push (the direction he is going) and to call when ready to taxi†. Once they are call that they are ready the ground controller will issue instructions on how to get to the runway. Ex â€Å"Taxi to runway 10 via Hotel 6 right turn on Hotel and hold short of runway 10†.Also the controller has the responsibility of sequencing aircraft correctly and all other movements in the FAA controlled areas. Also the controller is responsible for issuing taxi instructions to arriving aircraft as well. For example the pilot calls ground and says: â€Å"Delta 597on H9 Requesting taxi to the gate†, The Ground Controller responds â€Å"Delta 597 take N3 and right on to N to the assigned gate†. Ground control is not an easy job and is not an easy position to train on, this position when you train on it could get a little difficult and busy.But is a process that every controller has to go thr ough because an Air Traffic Controller has to work any of the assigned positions when they receive their certificate, and the next position is Local Tower. Local Tower is when and a pilot calls and request clearance for landing or for takeoff. When they are going to takeoff they call the tower and say: â€Å"Delta 422 holding short of runway 10 ready for takeoff† and then the controller working the tower position will tell the pilot if he is cleared to takeoff â€Å"Delta 422 you are cleared for takeoff† or the controller might say â€Å"Delta 422 line up and wait†.Then when the airplane is out and climbing the tower calls the aircraft and says: â€Å"Delta 422 contact departure†. Tower has the responsibility of every airplane coming in and going out of the airport. Tower has the responsibility of all of the airplanes in their airspace and it’s their responsibility of any aircraft flying around or inside the controlled airspace. This line of work i s not for everybody and the people that currently work them are sometimes stressed and tired.I like this profession because I enjoy working with pilots and the aviation community as a whole. My favorite position is Tower, because I can work with airplanes. I like this position because at times it can get a busy and you have to be on top of everything that is going on.
